MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE!

Hello out there!!

Hope your having a great holiday season so far!!! it’s quickly coming to a close as it normally does which gets me sad but it’s not over yet! Normally for Christmas Eve the tradition for us Italians is to make seven fish dishes-The Feast of the Seven Fishes!

Now in case you were ever wondering there are several theories when it comes to the symbolism of number seven, just so you know we didn’t just make it up!  One is that it took seven days for God to create the earth.  Another is that seven represents the sacraments.  In the end though, it’s all done in the spirit of the holiday and to refrain from eating meat on the day before Jesus was born.  Some people in my family however do not enjoy seafood so I contributed good old fashioned Baked Ziti this year to the feast!!! Mangia bene!

Jingle Jam!

Hello Everyone!!!

I host an annual holiday party every year that I have jokingly dubbed “Jingle Jam” (please reserve your laughter!) It’s just an excuse for me to get my family and friends together and well…eat…We played games and I cooked some of my favorite dishes.  My parents also contributed to the buffet with some good old fashioned sausage and peppers.  Great night with great people.  Hope you are enjoying the holiday season! 🙂

When Life Hands You Pumpkins….

MAKE PUMPKIN BISQUE!!!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!! Hope you and your families and loved ones have a great day celebrating what you are thankful for.  I for one am very thankful that I got to make this pumpkin bisque that includes real roasted pumpkin.  Although if you would rather just throw out your pumpkins and not bother the canned stuff works just as well 🙂

Enjoy the Day and LONG weekend!!!

Birthday Fun!

YAY! Happy Birthday to me!! another year to reflect back on.  Since my birthday is practically at the end of the year I can pretty much reflect on the whole year!

A lot has changed for me this year.  Well really one major change which was getting a new job.  That has been a whole process and adjustment though so it feels like a lot more than I guess it is.  Also I started this blogging journey which I have loved.  I cannot tell you how many times I have gone back to reference information I wrote about and laughed at old posts, this is turning into the exact thing I was hoping it would turn out to be.

And I got my favorite cake-Red Velvet! So cheers to another year!!! Can’t wait to see what this one has in store for me!

Mixing Sauces

Hi!

So I had, what I thought, was a BRILLIANT never before seen idea for a dish the other day.  I am sure you have one of these before then you run to google to verify your idea is 100% unique right?  well I went to pinterest instead and I didn’t find anything so I was SO EXCITED. My idea was for a blend of pesto and alfredo sauce, the blend of flavors seemed so amazing to me.

I went to tell my sister about it and she started hysterical laughing.  What was the deal??? She informed me that not only was my recipie NOT unique but that the olive garden has it on their menu!  Seriously!? were they stalking me? Did they overhear me talking about it?!?!? how can this be!? Knowing this now I sort of felt deflated but I was still going to try and make it anyway because I knew it would be delicious. Then I noticed in my fridge that I had some bacon that needed to be used so I said WHY NOT! My husband always likes to have some protein with his meals so this was the perfect addition I thought.  I was so right!  It came out amazing.  Take that Olive Garden 😛
