I started with melting some butter in a pan (about half a tbsp) the I sliced half of a white onion and tossed it in the pan with the butter. Cook that up until the onions get nice and soft. Contiuously stirring so they dont burn but instead get a nice golden brown color.
When they look golden brown get a Jalepeno. I had a small one. I recommend a small one as they are pretty spicy!! Your gonna wanna take out all those little seeds as that is where the spice lives. Unless you want atomic onions!! Slice them thin then toss them in with the onions.
Saute all together and add a little salt and pepper to the mixture.
When the jalepenos soften up, about 5 or so minutes, then remove from heat and set aside. Time to make the burgers!!
Here were my meat seasonings:
I did a tsp of the paprika, garlic, and thyme and a tablespoon of the dried chives. Then I did 2 tablespoons of the hot sauce and worcestershire sauce. Mix all this to a pound of ground beef and form your patties. I did 4.
I have a flat pan that I cooked these on but if you have a grill pan that’s even better. I usually put a little non stick spray or olive oil in the pan as well. Cook 4-5 mins per side on med heat, depending on how well you want them or how thick you made them. 4-5 mins per side worked for mine and made a nice juicy burger! I also added cheese to mine towards the end of their cooking time.
Time to plate! Toast your bun, or in my case sliced bread, and add your favorite toppers then the burger with the onion mixture on top. I like to do it restaurant style. Don’t judge me for using a paper plate. It was late and I needed to cut back on dishes!!
There you have it!! Hopefully this speeds this never ending winter along!!
Till next time!
