One of my all time favorite celebrity chefs is Giada De Laurentiis. LOVE her!!!! This awesome recipe is inspired by her recipe and is one that I have adopted into my Christmas traditions. Unfortunately I never have all of her awesome ingredients on hand so the below is my dumbed down version with a twist (Spoiler Alert: it’s Almond Extract) 🙂
What You Will Need:
1 Large Panettone
6 Eggs
3/4 Cup Whole Milk
1/4 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp Almond Extract
2 Tbsp Butter, Divided
First off cut off the top and bottom of Panettone, so you are just left with the midsection. Cut into 4 equal pieces. In a flat bowl, I used a glass baking dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, and sugar, almond extract until smooth.
Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a Pan or Griddle. Dip slices of panettone into the egg mixture, flipping to coat both sides. Place on the pan and cook until each side is nice and golden brown.
